Aggression-Verbal or Physical

Goal: The student acts physically and/or verbally aggressive toward adults or peers. Your goal is for the student to learn to respect the physical and emotional safety of others.

General Considerations: 1. Is the student’s aggression related to academic issues? For example, does the student engage in aggressive behavior because he cannot do academic tasks?

2. Is the student’s behavior related to a medical concern? Does the student truly seem to be incapable of controlling his angry impulses?

3. Have you or other staff members been aware of this problem for only a few days?

4. Does the student know how to interact with others in non-aggressive ways?

5. Is the student’s aggressive behavior predatory or long-standing?

6. Are several students aggressive toward one another?
